End of Life Doulas: Complementing healthcare, community and family support of the dying.

Live webinar

Online (New Zealand)
Treza Gallogly

Who should attend this webinar?

Anyone who works in a professional care role or supports people through all forms of loss and grief. Our content is applicable to a wide variety of professions including counsellors, social workers, teachers, emergency response teams, medical, corrections, mental health, hospice, volunteers, caregivers and more.

Overview

For counsellors, support workers, hospice and healthcare professionals, and Funeral Directors, understanding how doulas fit into the wider circle of care is increasingly important. With death becoming more medicalised and many families unsure of their options, doulas can help fill critical gaps, promote choice, and empower individuals and communities to navigate end of life with greater confidence and compassion. This webinar offers an essential introduction to the role of end of life doulas—non-medical, holistic companions who provide emotional, practical and spiritual support through dying, death and grief. Join us to explore how doulas are working alongside professionals, shifting public conversations, and contributing to more connected, person-led care.

Key learning points

  • Understand the role of end of life doulas and the scope of their non-clinical, holistic care. What is a doula and when and where doulas work with their clients.
  • Explore the common fears, tensions and misunderstandings around dying in our communities
  • Discover the practical ways doulas support individuals and families throughout the journey
  • Learn how doulas work alongside professionals, communities and whanau to support families and improve outcomes, including working with Funeral Directors and offering options for after-death care
