DESCRIPTION:WHO SHOULD DO THIS COURSE?\n\nAnyone who works in a professional care role or supports people\nthrough all forms of grief and loss e.g. Social Workers, Teachers,\nCounsellors, Doctors, EMT, Corrections, Mental Health, Hospice,\nVolunteers, Aged-care teams etc.\n\nOVERVIEW\n\nThis self-paced online course was designed for professionals in care\nand support roles who work with clients or staff who may be facing a\ndifficult life situation, significant change, or any form of loss or\ngrief.\n\nKEY LEARNING POINTS\n\nWe have grouped this course into 4 modules:\n\n1. THE IMPACT OF DIFFICULT LIFE SITUATIONS\n\n 	*\nThe nature and impact of difficult life situations, change, loss and\ngrief\n\n 	*\nCommon reactions that occur and influencing factors\n\n 	*\nWays to cope - helpful and unhelpful\n\n2. WHAT DOES 'GOOD SUPPORT' MEAN?\n\n 	*\nWhat support can you offer?\n\n 	*\nSupport needs that people have\n\n 	*\nIdentify support priorities\n\n3. PROVIDING GOOD SUPPORT\n\n 	*\nEmpathy versus sympathy and listening and empathy skills\n\n 	*\nHandling difficult conversations and being with a crying, anxious or\nangry person\n\n 	*\nWhen reactions are delayed or complicated\n\n 	*\nRespecting boundaries and accessing extra support\n\n4. STRATEGIES FOR SELF-CARE\n\n 	*\nStrategies for self-care as you support others - working sustainably\n\nCOURSE DETAILS\n\nAt the end of each module, there will be a checkpoint with\nmultiple-choice questions that reflect the work you complete in the\ncorresponding section.  To progress and complete the course you must\nanswer these questions correctly.\n\nOn average, we find most people take 5 hours to complete this course.\nThis may include taking time out for reflection and discussion.\n\n_Purchasing this course will give you access to the online course for\n12 months to complete at your own pace.\nIf you wish to do a refresher again at a later date you can do so at\na discounted rate.
