DESCRIPTION:*PLEASE NOTE THE TIME FOR THIS WEBINAR HAS BEEN SHIFTED FROM THE\nORIGINALLY SCHEDULED TIME. IT WILL NOW RUN 12-2PM.*\n\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS WEBINAR?\n\nAnyone who works in a professional care role or supports people\nthrough all forms of loss and grief. Our content is applicable to a\nwide variety of professions including counsellors, social workers,\nteachers, emergency response teams, medical, corrections, mental\nhealth, hospice, volunteers, caregivers and more. \n\nOVERVIEW\n\nFamily violence is often misunderstood as a series of isolated\nincidents, but in reality, it follows deeply ingrained patterns of\ncoercive control, entrapment, and harm.\n\nThis webinar will examine coercive control as a pervasive yet often\nunseen dynamic in family violence, shaping victims’ experiences\nthrough patterns of harm, that are both physically and non-physically\nperpetrated, and that result in primary victim entrapment.  We will\nalso look at the barriers that prevent victims from seeking support,\nthe impact of systemic and sectoral discrimination and\nmarginalisation, and the unintended ways systems can contribute to\nkeeping people trapped in abuse. Importantly, we will highlight the\nresilience and strength of victims, challenging outdated assumptions\nand shifting towards a more informed, non-judgemental approach to\nsupport.\n\nWhether you work directly with family violence or not, this webinar\nwill enhance your ability to recognise risk, ask the right questions,\nand better support those who may be experiencing coercive control. By\nbroadening our understanding of family violence beyond crisis\nintervention, we can play a vital role in early identification and\nintervention—helping to uncover where family violence may be\noccurring or likely to occur before it escalates.\n\nKEY LEARNING POINTS\n\n * Understanding language and terminology around family violence\n * The episodic nature of family violence and patterns of harm –\nexploring patterns of abuse to better understand whānau experiences\nof family violence\n * Coercive control as an overarching intentional  tactic of family\nviolence \n * Recognising entrapment and Multifaceted Entrapment\n * The Practitioner-Victim Insight Concept (PVIC)\n * Diverse communities: barriers, recognising risk and appropriately\ninformed response \n * The link to mental health and drug and alcohol issues as both\ncontributor and consequence\n\nWEBINAR REGISTRATION DETAILS\n\n * Access to the live two-hour webinar\n * Access to the webinar recording for 30 days\n * Access to a downloadable PDF handout\n * Certificate of accomplishment issued on completion of a short quiz\nfor CPD/OPD points\n * NOTE: WEBINAR TIMES ARE SHOWN IN NZST OR NZDT.
