DESCRIPTION: \n\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS WEBINAR?\n\nAnyone who works in a professional care role or supports people\nthrough all forms of loss and grief. Our content is applicable to a\nwide variety of professions including counsellors, social workers,\nteachers, emergency response teams, medical, corrections, mental\nhealth, hospice, volunteers, caregivers and more. \n\nOVERVIEW\n\nProcessing the world differently is not a problem if we move away from\nneurotypical expectations and traditional ways of counselling,\nsupporting, and teaching. In this training, we will briefly explore\nthe strengths and challenges neurodivergent youth and adults often\nexperience, and how neurodivergence influences their processing and\nlife experiences. We will also examine a framework that can support\nmaking your practices more accessible and suitable for neurodivergent\nclients, whether in counselling or in other support roles.\n\nThere is currently limited research on neurodiversity and loss or\ngrief. When supporting neurodivergent clients through loss and grief,\nyou may encounter unexpected behaviours or perspectives. We will\ndiscuss what the existing research says and share available resources.\nDrawing on experience, I will also share examples of what different\nprocessing can look like when supporting neurodivergent clients\nexperiencing loss and grief.\n\n* As this training focuses primarily on practical strategies rather\nthan theory alone, a prior basic understanding of autism, ADHD,\ndyslexia, etc. will be helpful.\n\nKEY LEARNING POINTS\n\n 	*\nA brief overview of neurodiversity and current terminology.\n\n 	*\nCommon strengths and challenges experienced by neurodivergent people.\n\n 	*\nDifferences in processing and how these may present in daily life and\nsupport settings.\n\n 	*\nWays to adapt your practice to better support neurodivergent youth and\nadults.\n\n	*\nNeurodiversity and loss and grief, including:\n\n 	*\nCurrent research related to neurodiversity and loss and grief.\n\n 	* Differences we may observe in how grief is experienced and\nexpressed.\n 	* Practical strategies to support neurodivergent youth and adults\nexperiencing grief.\n 	* Approaches to supporting families alongside neurodivergent\nindividuals.\n 	* Relevant resources to support practice and further learning.\n\nWEBINAR REGISTRATION DETAILS\n\n 	* Access to the live two-hour webinar\n 	* Access to the webinar recording for 30 days\n 	* Access to a downloadable PDF handout\n 	* Certificate of accomplishment issued on completion of a short quiz\nfor CPD/OPD points\n 	* NOTE: WEBINAR TIME IS SHOWN IN NZDT.
