Overview

Whilst Professional Supervision is a legal requirement for anyone who is in a Counselling or Social Work role, it is also widely known to be a fundamental part of any one's professional development if they are dealing with clients or families in a loss and grief capacity e.g. Managers of NGO's, Funeral Directors etc.

Having access to good quality supervision that meets your needs plays a significant role in maintaining your health, wellbeing and professional competence. Supervision is most effective when supervisees have adequate knowledge and skills to engage in the process. Topics include:

Key Learning Points

  • Supervision purpose, functions and process
  • Defining “good quality” supervision
  • The supervision relationship
  • Negotiating Contracts
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Choosing a supervisor
  • Preparing for/presenting in supervision
  • Managing feedback
